Congratulations to the 23 Field students who competed in this year’s Science Olympiad competitions at BASIS DC! Across the two teams (Middle School and Upper School), Field medaled in 26 of the events against 10 other schools. Our middle schoolers finished second overall for team score.

Medals are awarded for placing first, second, or third in an event. Trophies are awarded to the teams in first, second, or third across all events, regardless of individual performance.

Science Olympiad competitions, now in their 41st year, are like academic track meets, consisting of a series of 23 team events in each division (Division B is middle school; Division C is high school). Each year, the events update, rotate, and reflect the current scope of science, nature of science, genetics, life science, earth science, chemistry, anatomy, physics, geology, mechanical engineering, and technology. Emphasis is placed on active, hands-on group participation. Field students have been meeting and preparing for this competition since November.

We also want to recognize the dedicated and committed science faculty members who mentored and supported these students through the process.
