Congratulations to the 41 Field students who participated in the Mathematical Association of America's American Mathematics Competitions! These tests are designed for grade 12 and under (AMC12), grade 10 and under (AMC10), and grade 8 and under (AMC8). They are full of engaging math problems – emphasizing critical problem-solving in areas like arithmetic, geometry, probability, algebra, and number theory. Field Math Department Chair Kristen Amouri has organized this competition at Field for the past several years.
"Every year, hosting this competition allows me to witness students pushing themselves to apply what they are learning in deep and interesting ways, and also work on problems that extend beyond what they might encounter in their math classes every day. Participating students get a chance to stretch their critical thinking muscles. Getting excited about the beauty and challenge of mathematics is something that we hope to foster in all of our students." ~Kristen Amouri, Math Department Chair
We are so proud of everyone who participated and we want to highlight the members of each Field team — which consists of the top scorers (denoted with *) — and the winner of each competition (denoted with **).

Additionally, the MAA recognizes students who score particularly well on each test. This year, Reena ‘31 received a Certificate of Achievement for earning a score of 15 or above as a sixth grader.
"What I liked about AMC was how participating was low pressure. Taking it felt casual. It also allowed me to practice taking a test under time pressure, and how to maintain that time better in the future." ~Reena '31
Congratulations to all of our participants!
