The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards are a long-running US educational initiative supporting student achievement in the visual and literary arts. Scholastic has a legacy of acknowledging young talent and is today's largest source of scholarships for creative teens. Notable alumni of the awards (who were themselves honored in middle school or high school) include directors Ken Burns and Robert Redford, artists Andy Warhol, Tschabalala Self, Kay WalkingStick, and Luis Jiménez, authors Joyce Carol Oates, Truman Capote, and Sylvia Plath, and National Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman. Jurors of Scholastic look for works that exemplify originality, skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.
These Field students were recently honored in the Region-At-Large East 2024 Scholastic Art Awards.
