Congratulations to our two VEX Robotics teams for qualifying for the 2025 District of Columbia V5RC (High Stakes) Championship on Saturday, March 1, and one earning an invitation to the VEX/VRC World Competition in May. This is a first for Field’s Robotics teams, that only started competing at this level this year. The two teams Kestrel (11555B) and Peregrine (11555A) had excellent showings with the typical challenges associated with these competitions. While facing adversity, the students pivoted at different points to compete and make it through various levels/rounds of competition. Both Field teams utilized their STEM knowledge, along with communication, collaboration, and time-management skills throughout the tournament. The two teams eventually competed on the same side making it to the semi-finals where they tied in the autonomous (coded) portion of the matchup, yet were eliminated in the semis. Their morning ranks were 7th and 9th.
Team Kestrel placed 4th overall in skills and earned 35 points, which has qualified them for the VEX/VRC World Competition May 6-14 in Dallas, Texas.
