The Class of 2023 Discovers Their Best-Fit College or University

Congratulations to the Class of 2023!
What a year it's been for our talented seniors. It has been a pleasure getting to know these outstanding and enthusiastic students with a wide range of skills and interests, and we’ve watched this class really invest themselves in the college process from beginning to end. They were superstars from the moment we began  11th grade college workshops in January, to our college fair in April, all the way to our college “Boot Camp” in August when they officially became seniors. They also persevered through the long fall months as they finalized their applications and wrote all those supplemental essays. They were awesome self-advocates and ambassadors of Field as we hosted over 150 college representatives on campus in the fall from around the world and internationally, and they made those personal connections that have become so key in the admissions process. Above all, the seniors always sought out those "best fit" schools with an open mind, reflecting on who they aspire to be and what their next four years will bring as they continue to grow and flourish into adulthood. There is no doubt the seniors have learned a lot this past year, most of all about themselves, as they prepare to embark on their exciting journeys ahead. 
 
Field students are choosing diverse and unique paths as they head out into the world, and many have specific career goals in mind. This year, we have students who intend to study acting, music, meteorology, sports communication and media, biology, mechanical engineering, architecture, music engineering technology, philosophy, politics, computer science, business, film studies, animal behavior, neuroscience, religious studies, entrepreneurship, economics, English literature, and of course, everyone’s favorite major, “undecided!” 

A Busy Road
The Class of 2023 seniors did not sit back and relax during their senior year. They held positions in student government and as class executives, performed at assemblies and theater productions, created a peer council, led affinity groups, exhibited some amazing art, founded  Falcon Feed radio, advocated for the environment and animal rights, created films, and served as captains of sports teams. This class has brought awareness to a variety of social issues, and they have given back to the community at Field and beyond. We hope the Class of 2023 will use their Field education and experiences to be change agents in the world.
 
Fun Stats
In the Class of 2023, 60 students sent 652 applications to 182 colleges and universities across the country and internationally. 23 students applied and were accepted in the Early Decision or Early Action rounds to their top choice schools, and many of our students took advantage of applying “test-optional” to colleges this year. Students will attend colleges in 19 states (and the District of Columbia), and one student will attend college in Scotland. Two students have deferred enrollment and intend to take a gap year next year. And all students who were eligible for financial aid received exceptionally strong packages and scholarships at the schools to which they applied, and many Field students received generous merit scholarship offers in general.  
 
Though approximately one-third of the senior class chooses to attend those wonderful, traditional, small liberal arts schools, even more choose those medium/larger schools that offer specialized programs for an intended major, like business, communications, or engineering.

·  Business/economics/entrepreneurship: 9%
·  Engineering/Computer Science/Data Science/Architecture: 19%
·  The Arts: design, performance, film, music: 6%
·  Communications: 8%

We celebrated each fantastic accomplishment with our seniors, and we are proud that they have all chosen the best-fit schools for them.
