We’re onto our next Senior Spotlight! Gustavo is heading to Rice University in the Fall to study Political Science! During his time at Field, Gustavo has been involved in many organizations including Model UN, Field News, Trivia, Falcon Feed, and Hispanos Y Latinos Unidos, just to name a few. He says Field helped prepare him for his next chapter by giving him confidence. He chose to attend Field because he wanted to go somewhere that would give him room to grow. Keep reading to find out his advice for future seniors.

What major or subject area are you planning to pursue in college?

Political Science 

Why did you choose to attend The Field School?

My family and I felt that the school offered an environment conducive to personal growth, and I feel the unconventional nature of the campus charmed me into wanting to make this place home.

What grade level did you enter at Field?

9th 

What has been your favorite class at Field and why?

There are so many amazing classes, but if I were to pick one as my favorite, I feel Kevin Ford’s English 11 class was one of my favorite classes ever! Kevin brought so much energy, and it made me excited to be there!

What is your favorite memory from your time at Field?

For me, it’s the little things that count. I think one of my favorite memories from Field will be a trip our grade took to Georgetown. It was nice to just hang out as a grade, explore, and grab a bite to eat.

What will you miss most about Field?

I think I will miss the people the most, because in my eyes they are what makes Field so special. Many of my teachers served as important mentors to me, nurturing talents I hadn’t considered special, and offering learning opportunities whenever they could. My classmates offered me diverse perspectives and engaged me in memorable adventures.

What is your advice for future Field seniors?

Thank Forbes and Ingrid (College Counselors) properly. Seriously!

How did Field prepare you for your next chapter?

Beyond academics, I feel my career at Field offered me support when I needed it, and presented me with a plethora of learning opportunities. This allowed me to, not only gain confidence in myself but have the necessary tools to tackle any future challenges I may encounter.
