This week we are highlighting Sarah Swain, Dean of Innovation and Experiential Learning. Sarah plays a big role in developing learning experiences outside the classroom into our curriculum at Field. She recently led the 8th grade on their trip to Costa Rica! Sarah grew up in the Midwest and she has a wide range of hobbies including yoga, playing fiddle, hiking, travel, and reading. Get this: she even led a dog sled trek in northern Minnesota. Keep reading to find out the piece of advice she would give her younger self.

What is something that people at The Field School might not know about you?
I guided dogsled treks for a winter in Northern Minnesota.
What hobbies do you have outside of Field?
Yoga, dogs, playing fiddle, music concerts of all genres, hiking, backpacking, outdoor adventure, travel, reading, and cooking.
What is the first concert you ever attended?
My father playing cello in a chamber music concert
If you could share one piece of advice with your younger self, what would it be?
If it will not matter in 5 years, do not spend more than 5 minutes worrying about it.
Who inspires you and why?
Jane Goodall and Sylvia Earle as groundbreaking female scientists who are changing the world!
