It’s Friday – and this week we are featuring one of our incredible history teachers! Meet Jaclyn Zarrella. Jaclyn teaches mostly upper school students at Field. She is also the History Department Chair and the Upper School Instructional Coach. She’s originally from the west coast and graduated from UC Santa Cruz. She has a Masters in Education and is currently pursuing a second Masters in American History! Keep reading to learn more about one of her hobbies!

What is your favorite book or podcast?
My most recent favorite book (it changes every month!) was Wild Girls by Tiya Miles.
What is something that people at The Field School might not know about you?
I used to be on a curling team!
What hobbies do you have outside of Field?
I am currently in grad school getting my second masters degree. My first one was in education, and now I'm getting a Masters in American History! I also love to go to the movies, cross-stitch, and play with my kittens.
What is the first concert you ever attended?
Lilith Fair '98!
Who inspires you and why?
My students inspire me. They have the absolute best ideas and questions that blow my mind and make me want to keep learning.
If you could share one piece of advice with your younger self, what would it be?
Remember that everything is practice for the next try.
What do you love most about working at The Field School?
I love exploring my passions and continually creating relevant and interesting curriculum and programs to meet the high expectations of my students!
