College Counseling Senior Spotlight

Spring Break is almost here but we have one more Senior Spotlight before then. Meet Riley! Riley is heading to the University of Chicago in the Fall to study economics. Riley came to Field in 8th grade and since then, he has been busy! He has been part of many clubs and electives, including Model UN and Peer Tutoring Club, and he also played tennis. Keep reading to find out his favorite memory from his time at Field.

What major or subject area are you planning to pursue in college?

Economics

Why did you choose to attend The Field School?

I enjoyed the clubs and electives system concept and I was intrigued by the music studio. I also enjoyed the welcoming attitude I encountered on my shadow day.

What grade level did you enter at Field?

8th

What has been your favorite class at Field and why?

It's hard to pick only one! I enjoyed Chris Lorrain's 8th grade history class because it was the first time I experienced a discussion-based history classroom.

What sports/clubs did you take part in at Field?

  • Model UN
  • Tennis
  • Hiking
  • Peer Tutoring Club
  • Historical Explorations Club
  • Philosophy Club
  • Trivia Club

What is your favorite memory from your time at Field?

There are many good memories, but one of the best is definitely running through the dark during the Senior Retreat Manhunt games.

What will you miss most about Field?

The Blue/Gold games and all the camaraderie (and rivalry!) associated with them. Additionally, just being able to see everyone in person, saying hi in the hallways, etc.

What is your advice for future Field seniors?

Don't procrastinate if you want to relax.

How did Field prepare you for your next chapter?

When I came to Field, I was academically uncertain and not very confident, but that had completely changed by the time I entered my senior year. I thank Field for allowing me to take advantage of resources that I wouldn't have had otherwise.
