Happy Thursday! Today’s Senior Spotlight is Mateo. Mateo is planning to attend Pitzer College in California in the Fall to study Critical Global Studies. Mateo has been at Field since 7th grade and he says he chose to come here because of the intimate environment and great teachers. Mateo is very involved in the Hispanic and Latino Student Union at Field and also writes for The Field News. Keep reading to find out his favorite class at Field (a favorite of many of our students).
What major or subject area are you planning to pursue in college?
Critical Global Studies
Why did you choose to attend Field?
I chose to attend Field due to its intimate environment and its great teachers.
What grade level did you enter at Field?
7th
What has been your favorite class at Field and why?
My favorite class at Field has been Toni Morrison Senior Seminar. I’ve really loved getting such a deep understanding of Morrison’s work and thinking critically about a wide range of texts.
What sports/clubs did you take part in at Field?
What is your favorite memory from your time at Field?
My favorite memory from my time at Field is the Aguas Frescas event that the Hispanic and Latino Student Union organized on the last day for the seniors in 2023.
What will you miss most about Field?
I’m going to miss my friends, all the familiar faces, and the teachers I’ve gotten to know over the years.
What is your advice for future Field seniors?
If you put your mind to anything you can do it. Stay true to yourself and your goals.
How did Field prepare you for your next chapter?
I learned so much about how to learn, both in my work ethic and in enhancing my knowledge.
